Welcome, Belyn!

Several years ago, a student named Belyn enrolled in my Contract Law class at the University of La Verne. I noticed her intelligence, her natural grasp of the material, and her ability to explain it to others. Toward the end of the year, I invited her to become a Teaching Fellow for my Contract Law class during her final year of law school, known as the 3L year. Fortunately, she accepted.

Over the next three years, I watched her lead as President of my Women's Legal Society. She married her high school sweetheart, Miguel, and I had the pleasure of attending their wedding. Although she interned at the Legal Aid Society, she confided in me that her career path after the bar exam was uncertain. Simultaneously, I shared my plans to launch a sports agency. I sensed her interest in my venture, but I couldn't foresee the significant impact she would have in the coming year.

My business partner, Anthony Smith, and I launched Foothill Athlete Management in November 2024. We are now celebrating our first anniversary and preparing for a major launch, having built a solid foundation to support our clients. Belyn has been involved every step of the way, assisting as needed, acting as my right hand, all while graduating from law school and passing the challenging California bar exam.

Miguel, Belyn's husband, is a cherished band director in Pomona Unified. Observing their growth together, I am confident that one of them will eventually become the Mayor of Pomona. They both have a deep love for their community. Knowing all this, I am honored to announce that Belyn Alvarez will officially join the Law Office of Kim Farina in 2026.

Belyn will assume various roles, primarily focusing on client management and substantive legal work in divorce mediations, contract disputes, contract drafting, basic estate planning, managing the academic program for our student athletes, and teaching courses such as basic mediation certification or civil liability protection law to law enforcement officers throughout the state.

I have truly enjoyed watching Belyn's growth over the past three years. She not only earned her Juris Doctor but also completed a dual program to receive her master's in public administration simultaneously. She is fun, smart, hard-working, a great communicator and will provide exceptional service to our clients.
